Melody-hound- Tune recognition and search http://www.melodyhound.com/
Uses an algorithm named after its inventor: Parsons code, based on the being higher or lower than the previous note. This gives a fingerprint of apiece of music that you can use to find the title in a huge database. You need to install a piece of Java.

Update: Lauri Griffiths passed away. Muse is an ABC editor with a cool graphical interface. It even allows import of MIDI files (though a warning is issued that it is in an experimental phase)

Largest database with CD information. Used by program to identify the CD you are playing on your computer. Can also be used to find a specific song of which you only have little information, in Advanced Searching.

Notation/playback software. Something like ABC, but more sophisticated. Horrible playback quality though.... Users have collected a nice archive with folk music.
